Acid Zapper's Double Blind-Placebo Clinical trial was conducted at Montana State University, Bozeman, by Dan Heil, PhD, FACSM, Associate Professor of Health and Human Performance. One of the programs and research projects Dan Hiel is involved in at the MSU is Contracted Lab Testing. The lab performs fitness testing for groups upon request and availability of the lab. For example, they have performed fitness testing for the Bozeman city firefighters for several years that included VO2max testing with 12-lead ECG, 30j-sec Wingate testing, as well as various tests of upper and lower body muscular strength. They have also done some product testing at the request of various companies.

Acid Zapper® is a cutting-edge mineral alkalization supplement that helps athletes maintain proper pH balance, improve performance and speed recovery time. Acid Zapper naturally boosts the body's ability to keep the blood, cells and tissue free from the excessive amounts of acidic waste generated during exercise.
When we first released Acid Zapper® in 2006, it was our ultimate goal to give athletes an all natural, safe and legal sports supplement. Acid Zapper, Inc. understands that in order to be accepted in the world of sports nutrition a product must prove itself, not merely in anecdotal reports from users, but in clinical studies. Few sports supplements are ever put through the rigorous evaluation of an independent

The study was conducted by Dan Heil, Ph.D. Associate Professor, Health & Human Development. The placebo-controlled, double-blind trial included 24 elite Nordic skiers who used either Acid Zapper or placebo for 7 days at a dose of 1 tablet per 50 pounds of body weight. Dr. Heil is in the process of publishing the results of this clinical trial and Acid Zapper looks forward to providing the information as a part of our obligation to all who may use our products.
The following significant changes were noted:
The purpose of this double-blind placebo-controlled study was to investigate the potential influence of the Acid Zapper nutrition supplement on correlates of endurance performance (i.e. upper body power), as well as cardio respiratory and blood lactate responses in well-trained competitive Nordic skiers before and after a 7-day loading period.
These results have earned Acid Zapper a place next to a select few of clinically proven sports supplements. Acid Zapper’s, patented mineral-based formula is rated GRAS a designation of safety by the FDA, and is recognized as NDI (New Dietary Ingredient) a requirement for safety and uniformity by the FDA. Acid Zapper's unique, patented ingredients contain no steroids, stimulants or sugars, and all ingredients are allowed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) recently completed testing on a standard production lot of Acid Zapper and found the sample to be free of anabolic androgenic steroids and stimulants.
What is a double-blind trial? In the double-blind trial neither the patient nor the researchers administering the treatment know who is being treated and who is in the placebo control group. Patients are randomly assigned to one of the groups independently of the researchers, and the actual treatment they receive is coded so that no one knows whether it is active or placebo. This ensures that all possible biases that could be introduced to the trial by the researchers or the patients are eliminated.
Only after the trial and once all data has been gathered are the results decoded and analyzed. If the treated group shows significantly better results than the placebo control group, then the treatment has passed the trial.
Conclusion As with all tests, it is important to ensure that the results can only be produced by that which is under consideration: all potential biases and complications need to be eliminated or reduced to a minimum. The randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial is the way in which this is achieved in modern, evidence-based medicine.
